Jordan-Newby Branch Library at Broad Creek
Explore our latest accomplishment in community revitalization and practical engineering solutions – the Jordan-Newby Branch Library. Owned by the City of Norfolk, this new two-story building showcases our commitment to collaboration and innovative design.
Completed using the design/build method of project delivery, the Jordan-Newby Branch Library stands as a testament to our expertise in delivering efficient and practical solutions. With a budget of $7.7M, this 28,200 square foot facility offers a multitude of spaces to cater to the diverse needs of its patrons.
Within the library, you will find a well-designed layout that includes administration offices, a welcoming lobby, and distinct areas for adult, young adult, and children's collections. The library also features computer labs, meeting rooms, program rooms, display areas, study areas, a lounge, and other support spaces. We have meticulously considered every aspect of the design to ensure a seamless and inviting experience for visitors.
Beyond its functional interior, the Jordan-Newby Branch Library boasts an aesthetically pleasing exterior. The building showcases a roof terrace, providing an enjoyable space for visitors to connect with nature and enjoy panoramic views. Additionally, a children's outdoor patio offers a safe and engaging environment for young minds to explore and learn.
One notable feature of the Jordan-Newby Branch Library is the convenient connection it shares with Richard Bowling Elementary School, another project expertly designed by Speight Marshall Francis. This connection, facilitated by a covered awning, not only emphasizes community relationships but also ensures a seamless transition between education and recreation for both students and library patrons.
At Speight Marshall Francis, we are dedicated to community revitalization and practical engineering solutions. The completion of the Jordan-Newby Branch Library highlights our ability to deliver innovative designs that meet the unique needs of our clients. We are thrilled to be a part of Norfolk's rich cultural landscape and look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts in building a better future for all.
