Crossroads Elementary School
A project for NAVFAC Washington's Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), Crossroads Elementary School serves children living on Quantico Marine Corps Base, Virginia.
Crossroads Elementary, the first of its kind in DoDEA, was designed with key principles of 21st-century learning in mind: critical thinking and problem-solving; agility and adaptability; initiative, effective communication, curiosity, and collaboration.
Speight Marshall Francis served as Structural Engineer of Record providing construction documents and construction administration services for this new two-story, 750-student school with 129,577 gross square feet. Design provided by a joint venture between Waller, Todd & Sadler, and RRMM Architects. The design/build project was built by Homeland Contracting along with their 8(a) mentor W.M. Jordan Company. Groundbreaking took place in April 2013 and the project was completed in January 2015. This LEED Silver facility includes a robust geothermal climate control system and radiant floor heating. Also served as Agent 1 Special Inspector.
