Elizabeth B. Davis Middle School
Elizabeth B. Davis Middle School in Chesterfield County, Virginia was established with a green program for environmental sustainability and an emphasis on the Chesapeake Bay.
Speight Marshall Francis served as Structural Engineer of Record for a new 175,000 square foot middle school with a 1,200-student capacity for Chesterfield County Public Schools. The design included a gymnasium, cafeteria, auditorium, media center, and 65 classrooms in a 2-story portion of the building. The structure is comprised of masonry bearing walls and steel frames while the floor system is "slab on joist". Our firm also designed the new Tomahawk Creek Middle School simultaneously for Chesterfield County Public Schools.
