Orion Air Group Corporate Offices & Hangar
We are proud to have played a significant role in the landmark project of designing the first private company to locate to the Air/Commerce Park at the Newport News Williamsburg International Airport.
Our team at SMF provided comprehensive structural design services for this groundbreaking venture. The scope of our work included the design of a 40-foot tall, single-story, 22,000 square foot pre-engineered metal building aircraft hangar, as well as a second-story office consisting of a conventional framed 6,000 square foot elevated floor within a pre-engineered metal building. Additionally, two strategically positioned stair towers and an elevator were incorporated to ensure seamless accessibility throughout the facility.
Within this innovative complex, a two-story corporate wing serves as the hub for all passenger-related activities. This wing houses reception and waiting areas for passengers, corporate offices, and facilities catering to flight crews and maintenance staff. By connecting this corporate wing to a massive 20,774 square foot hangar and maintenance facility, we have created a seamless integration of operational spaces that optimize workflow and support the needs of the aviation industry.
The exterior design of the Orion Corporate Headquarters is both sleek and captivating. Vertical aluminum panels create a clean, modern profile, showcasing the facility's innovative approach. Adding to the architectural appeal is a dynamic two-story high canopy that proudly highlights the Orion company logo and signature color, serving as a distinctive feature that enhances the building's visual impact.
Our collaboration with Orion on this groundbreaking project underscores our commitment to delivering practical engineering solutions that prioritize efficiency and functionality. By designing a facility capable of accommodating the largest non-commercial jet in the world, we have solidified our position as trusted partners for clients seeking comprehensive engineering solutions.
